Our Sangha
We gather in San Antonio, creating a network of practitioners who support one another in living with mindfulness and compassion. Our programs and meditation sessions are held in a variety of welcoming venues, each providing a peaceful setting for practice to make a difference in our lives and those whose lives we touch.

About Meditation
Meditation is many thousands of years old and has survived because it works. People like us have been sitting together for millennia to rejuvenate, rest, make peace, and ultimately reclaim our natural freedom.
Our teacher Loden Nyima provides Meditation for Everyone drawing from the most authentic sources from his fourteen years as a Buddhist monk, and to offer meditation as openly as possible to anyone who is interested for whatever role it plays in your life.
There’s a lot out there these days with meditation, so I like to let folks know exactly what it is we’re learning so that you can incorporate it as you see fit into your life.
Shamatha, or “peaceful abiding” meditation, is an ancient and universal form of meditation. It predates Buddhism and is about making peace with ourselves, rejuvenating, and resting with groundedness, clarity, and strength.
Vipashyana, or “insight” meditation, guides us to discovering our innate wisdom, openness, and compassion. It’s how the Buddha taught to free our minds and is also open to everyone whether or not we’re a Buddhist.
To get more of a feel for the approach I use in retreats, the below is the first section of my book on meditation, Peace and Freedom. You can read these chapters freely by clicking on the links. Contact us with any questions.
Meditation FAQs
Do I have to sit on the floor the whole time? What if I have back or knee pain?
Not at all. In our San Antonio meditation gatherings, you can sit on a cushion, chair, or even stand. We also practice short sessions (10–15 minutes) with walking meditation in between. If you need to move, adjust, or use a resting posture at any time, that’s completely welcome. Comfort is part of the practice.
What kind of meditation do you teach? Do I need to be Buddhist?
Everyone is welcome whether you’re curious, spiritual, or just want calm in daily life. We practice shamatha (peaceful abiding meditation), a simple, ancient practice that predates Buddhism and is shared across many traditions, including modern mindfulness. If you’re interested in Buddhism, this meditation is a foundational doorway. If not, it still offers grounding, peace, and clarity.
I’ve tried meditation apps, mantras, or yoga before. Will this still help me?
Yes! Your path is your own, and it’s natural to draw from many sources. Our events focus on shamatha as a steady foundation you can return to, no matter what else you practice. Many people find it helps deepen and support the other techniques they already enjoy.
